Scar camouflage skin#
Hypotrophic scars appear when the skin loses collagen and ground substance. They, too, are formed from collagen and appear darker than the surrounding skin. Unlike keloid scars, hypertrophic scars are confined within the edges of the wound. They’re often redder or darker than the skin surrounding them. As the body heals from the wound, it produces collagen, which turns into keloid scars. Keloid scars are thick, irregular scars that extend beyond the edges of the wound. Your SMP procedure depends on the type of scar on your scalp. Scars tend to soak up the pigment, which means you need no fewer than three treatments to complete a Scar Camouflage Treatment. This micropigmentation treatment process varies from client to client because scar tissue is more unpredictable than undamaged skin. Then pigments are blended 1-2 cm above and below the scar to achieve an effective blend with the surrounding hair. We use a micro-needle small enough to replicate the look of a single hair follicle. Our practitioner injects the natural pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. Pigments are first inserted inside the scar following the pattern of the follicles. Scalp Designs are experts in camouflaging any and every type of transplant or medical scar. When we use SMP for scar camouflage, we strategically put pigment on the scar tissue to make it blend in with your shaved look. SMP is a non-surgical hair loss treatment where pigments are applied onto the scalp to replicate the look of natural hair.

An SMP technique performed on a hair transplant scar is called “Scar Camouflage.” Apart from hair transplant scars, we also perform SMP on other types of medical scars. Our experts use SMP to reduce the appearance of these scars (that is, we camouflage the scar tissue). We work on many clients who have undergone a hair transplant procedure and have been hiding a very undesirable scar for years.
